Inside The Tech Revolution In Children’s Healthcare
Technology is transforming pediatrics. From artificial intelligence to virtual reality, care teams are harnessing technology to tackle healthcare challenges in ways we never thought possible. Here is how one hospital is poised to revamp children’s healthcare with technology as 2024 rolls around.
Case in point: Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is gearing up for a leap into the future of pediatric healthcare with the opening of the Arthur M. Blank Hospital, a 446-bed facility, dedicated to pediatrics.
The hospital aims to enable much more complete technology integration, location awareness, automation and video capabilities than the vast majority of existing hospitals.
Here is how is technology being incorporated:
Designing of hospital rooms to incorporate the latest patient engagement capabilities, using both mobile apps and in-room screens to support self-service and information sharing.
Incorporation of two-way video to allow easy access to interpretive services, enable remote monitoring when needed, and foster virtual interactions between patients and their families.
Real-time location technology to extend beyond traditional equipment locating to include staff members. This technology will not only bolster security measures but will integrate with the patient engagement system to provide valuable information about the presence of healthcare professionals in patient rooms.
The facility will also showcase a fleet of 65 robots, with dedicated elevators for efficient mobility. These robots will be divided into backstage and front-facing roles, handling tasks such as transporting supplies, pharmacy deliveries and meal distribution.
A data driven approach to pediatric care: Pediatricians are on the front lines of all childhood medical disorders that require a solid, evidence-based foundation for understanding causes and developing and administering preventions and treatments. EHRs help to document reams of information, but generic EHR itself does nothing to liberate that data for any kind of clinical utility.
This is where specialty specific EHR for pediatrics can be a game changer. Read more about how moving away from one size fits all approach with specialty specific EHR software can be a game changer here.
NEWS IN NUMBERS
Where Healthcare Executives Stand On Generative AI
58% percent of healthcare executives said their organization will implement or acquire a generative AI solution in 2024.

Larger organizations have already incorporated various generative AI tools from EHR vendors.
Only 25% of healthcare executives who participated in the report said their organizations have adopted a generative AI solution.
Healthcare executives who intend to invest in generative AI said they are primarily driven by the goal of improving efficiency.
The most common intent is to acquire generative AI solutions aimed at improving efficiency in tasks related to documentation, patient communication and workflow.
Accuary, cost and security were listed at the top three challenges associated with generative AI.
