From tackling EHR usability challenges to developing a GLP-1 virtual clinic, there’s a lot we’re covering in the newsletter today, so let’s dive in!

DEEP DIVE
Blueprint For GLP-1 Virtual Clinic Development

  • 48 percent of adults in the non-metro areas and 41 percent in metro areas in the US are living with obesity.

Companies such as Mayo Clinic have already introduced telehealth services to offer direct access to GLP-1 weight loss medication for patients.

Healthcare providers are opting for GLP-1 virtual clinic development, so they can prescribe and administer these medications to patients through a series of questionnaires, tests, and primary diagnosis.

Essential Features Needed For GLP-1 Virtual Clinic Development:

  1. Virtual Consultation

  2. e-Prescriptions

  3. Medical History

  4. Personalized Wright Loss Plans

  5. Patient Engagement Program

  6. Payment Gateway System

This article takes a deep dive into the entire process for GLP-1 virtual clinic development including the benefits and challenges. Read the entire piece here.

PULSE POINTS
Latest Breakthroughs This Week

Here’s the most important breakthroughs and advancements we spotted in the healthcare technology space this week.

  • AI Feedback On Physician Notes: Researchers from New York City-based NYU Langone Health found that artificial intelligence feedback on physicians' notes improved their quality. Note-based clinical assessments and reasoning experienced improvements of up to 45% while contingency planning to address patients' future needs saw improvements of up to 34%.

  • Hospital at Home: Novant Health launched a hospital-at-home program. Patients are monitored by technology around the clock, have 24/7 access to a remotely located registered nurse, receive at least two visits a day from paramedics, and meet virtually with a physician once daily. The program treats patients with chronic disease flare-ups or other "lower-risk conditions" or who are recovering from surgery.

  • AI Training Assistants: OSF HealthCare is partnering a technology company to develop artificial intelligence assistants to help with primary care training. The focus is to develop AI assistants that can offer training for advanced practice provider primary care fellowship participants.

  • EHR Data: Veradigm, formerly known as Allscripts plans to use generative AI to find insights in its decades' worth of patient data. Veradigm, which unlike other EHR vendors, owns its patient data, intends to employ ScienceIO's technology to clean up its 200 million patient records and 5 billion clinician notes, mostly from independent physician offices, and then sell the deidentified data to pharma companies to learn how patients react to drugs outside of clinical trials.

  • Stats: Healthcare cybersecurity spending has grown to 7% of total IT spending, up from 5% in 2019, as threats become more pronounced. 81% of healthcare companies said cybersecurity was a line item in their budgets, which is higher than the 74% average across all industries.

  • Partnership: Ensemble Health Partners is expanding its partnership with Microsoft to accelerate innovation of EIQ, its proprietary revenue cycle intelligence platform. Insights from EIQ are infused directly into each healthcare organization's EHR to automate work, guide operator action and "ensure the EHR remains the source of truth."

What Is EHR Usability?

EHR usability refers to the ease with which electronic health record (EHR) systems can be used by healthcare providers to accomplish their tasks efficiently and effectively. It encompasses various aspects such as user interface design, navigation, data input methods, system responsiveness, and overall user experience.

Improving EHR usability involves understanding the needs and workflows of healthcare providers and incorporating their feedback into the design and implementation of the system
